Japanese Choba Dansu - Taisho Era Lembata 33 x 23 x 30This Japanese choba dansu (or cho dansu) merchant chest dates from the Taish Era (1912 1926) and is made in the Osaka style. Cho dansu were used by merchants in shops for storing ledgers, money, and seals. Osaka & Kyoto were the centers of production for unconventional tansu like this one. This tansu is constructed with mpuru (maple wood acer amoenum) door & drawer fronts with a sugi (cryptomeria) frame. The drawers inside the lockbox are kiri
