Antique Baluch Prayer Rug, Khorosan Region, Northeast Persia, c. Early 20th Century – 3’ x 5’3 antique carved seating The condition of the pieceThis Baluch prayer rug from the Khorosan region in northeast Persia showcases a classic lattice field of octagonal guls in rich, moody hues of midnight blue, brick red, and oxidized brown, with subtle ivory accents providing highlights. The abrash across the field gives the rug a dynamic visual texture, with areas of deep indigo yielding to softer, warmer tones. A delicate rams horn border frames the field, enclosing the meditative geometry within.
